The goals of this Work Package are (1) to establish an initial framework for environmental risk assessment of industrial ridge mining activities and (2) to develop the risk framework and conduct analyses informed by the different project WPs.
To leave minimal environmental footprint and be proactive in safeguarding the environment, environmental sustainability of deep-sea ridge mining operations should be evaluated prior to the activities. The WP6, therefore, aims to identify potential hazards and assess environmental risks related to the mining in the Arctic Mid-Ocean Ridge area.
